Walk Across Tennessee, Sullivan County

Walk Across Tennessee is an 8-week walking program designed to encourage friends and family to join a walking team and walk as many miles as you can. We want to encourage you to make a team goal to walk 440 miles (approximately the length of Tennessee) over the course of the eight weeks.

Walking is one of the easiest ways to be physically active. You can do it almost anywhere and at any time. All you need is a comfortable pair of shoes and a little time to add a few steps to your day!

WHO: Anyone can participate–no age limit!

HOW: Register above by clicking the register “individual” or “team” button.
Assemble your team, team name, and captain BEFORE you register. Team captains will register their team online.

Categories
Participants may choose to compete as a team or individual.

TEAMS
– Teams will have a maximum 4 members. 
– Teams will choose a unique team name to identify them during the challenge. 
– Team members will track personal miles and share with team captain who will report miles for the team each Monday using a digital mileage log.
– a participant can only join ONE team.

INVIIDUALS
– Participants participating independently will report individual mileage.

These miles should be either walking, running, or hiking miles.
*Other exercise activities may not be converted.

Reported numbers should specifically be for active miles. 
Total daily steps from fitness trackers and pedometers should not be counted as miles. 
We recognize that not everyone may have a fitness tracker, and even if we did, not all of us have similarly active lifestyles.
Counting only our intentional activity helps “level the playing field.”

*Eligible miles will be recorded Monday to Sunday with submissions due each on Monday by noon.

Track miles in the way that is easiest for you! Wearable fitness trackers, pedometers, etc.

Log miles weekly, by clicking the button above “log miles.” If you are competing as a team, only the team captain will log miles for the entire team. If you are competing as an individual, you will log your own miles.
**Under the Resource tab below, there is a tracking tool for keeping up with miles for the 8-weeks.

  • The first 50 individuals will receive a water bottle
  • Each week, individuals that walk 10 miles or more will be entered into a weekly drawing for a fabulous reward.
  • The top 3 teams and top 3 individuals competing independently will receive a prize!

Walk Across Tennessee took place August 29th through October 23rd. This year, 173 participants/42 teams (ages ranging from 5-87) cumulatively walked 28,239 miles over the 8-week period.
